Cole Powell had one goal on Sunday,
October 14th and that was to not
interfere with the quest for the
championship in the NASCAR Whelen
Modified Tour at Thompson International
Speedway (CT).  Powell was making
his first start in the Thompson World
Series, the final event of the NWMT
season.  Powell's record will stand with
31st-place finish after starting 26th in
what was a matter of getting swept up
in someone else's mess.

"With only an hour practice we were
extremely happy at the start of the
race," said Powell.   "We felt that we
were going to be strong at the end of the race with the car.  We took a big swing after time trials and it worked.  Some things you just can't avoid, death, taxes and a road block on the race track."

Powell's day ended early, but the Modified season is not completely over.  Powell will come south to run the 10th Annual North-South Shootout at Caraway Speedway (NC) on November 8th to 10th.  This will be Powell’s first start in the North-South Shootout, but not his first at Caraway.  Earlier this season, Powell finished 17th at Caraway in a NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour event.
